This is phase two of the yard transformation. Phase one was take down the trees. Phase two is make room for grass, create an entrance by adding a walkway, and backyard appeal.
Today, Inauguration Day, January 20th, 2009, we spent the morning watching the pomp and circumstance of the Inauguration. We spent the afternoon with our dear friends Hilary and Audrey Chen. Audrey was born on 2/13 and Baker on 2/14, so the two kids are almost one and Hilary and I cannot believe it.
and because we are moving at the end of this week, we HAD to celebrate their birthdays together (and give the big day a trial run!)
Audrey liked her cupcake and is obviously being brought up right with some decent manners...
This past weekend, we decided to take a Sunday afternoon walk. We decided that Baker, being very proficient in walking behind his radio flyer wagon, could just walk along with us. And he did! He really enjoyed the walk and did great.
Baker was born with a good amount of hair. We thought it would all fall out, but it never did. For a long time, he had the mohawk and it slowly kept growing and growing. This past week, it became apparent that our little boy was looking a bit shabby. Saturday morning, we headed off to get his haircut at the coolest little kids hair place!
We started off in the Campbell's Soup cars, but...
someone was a little squirmy, so we completed the majority of the haircut in my lap!
and the haircut turned out GREAT!
and in the end, we had to try out the Soup cars one more time...
And even with a big boy haircut, he is still our little sweet baby boy...
Here's a bit of a catch-up on the last two months, which have been packed with activity, growth, fun, and non-stop joy and amazement:
We took a few baths
Got a little messy eating all kinds of real people food, including Daddy's favorite - STEAK!...
We enjoyed a first snow at 6:30am in Raleigh, NC
Baker hung out with cousin Thea and chewed on her giraffe...
We spent time at the River with Grandaddy, Pop Pop, Aunt Nikole, Thea, Dad, and (not pictured) Uncle John, Phyllis and Mom.
Baker played with Mema
Had my first turkey at Thanksgiving with the Morgan side of the family...
Went to the NC mountains to hang with M and the fabulous Uncle Nate
We visited a Cheese Factory (Ashe County Cheese)
We picked out a 10 foot Christmas tree in the freezing rain...
We filled our days with all kinds of fun, discovery, learning, nonsense and laughter and a consistent hour's worth of naps (yes, this child naps one hour a day. Somedays we get 1.5 hours,but you can count on a 30 minute nap in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon every single day... I have become incredibly efficient in 30 minutes!)
We had a party for Jissel, Manuel, and baby Oliver...
which Nathan catered beautifully and deliciously...
Baker learned all about Christmas and helped decorate the tree and played with his very own stocking while BJ and I went out to BJ's company Christmas party!
We couldn't have made it through December without Nathan in so many ways...
Pops came to visit and we played on the Wheely-Cow
Christmas Eve, Baker delighted us both when he was taking a bath and looked up at BJ and said "Dada" and we have been hearing it ever since...
Christmas morning was spent as a family at home. What a NOVEL concept. We had great fun together, even if Baker had no clue what was going on but enjoyed some new toys...
M and Nathan came on Christmas Day and then Mema and Papa Price came a couple of days later bearing the fabulous Red Flyer Wagon and the singing gingerbread house...
Adam, Kate and Jacob came for a visit and Baker learned what it's like to have an older brother!
Baker was a real helping man throughout the holidays...
